00 – Visiting Villagers — Official Wiki

Welcome to the official documentation for Visiting Villagers! This mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 (Forge) transforms static villages into living, dynamic settlements, introducing temporary visitors with professions and visual variants, playful children, and rare biome travelers.

Overview

Visiting Villagers expands the Minecraft village experience through an organic population system. Once a village reaches the minimum development and safety criteria, new visitors begin arriving during the day to interact with residents, use workstations, and perform exclusive trades.

Key Features

  • 3 Visitor Categories: Profession-carrying adults (VisitorEntity), babies (BabyVisitorEntity), and rare wanderers (WanderingVisitorEntity).
  • Intelligent Village AI: Movement guided by points of interest, daytime routine, and automatic dispersion at dusk.
  • JSON Trade System: Independent buy and sell catalogs per variant, with support for dynamic item families (family), random lists (one_of), and Data Components.
  • TOML Spawn Configuration: Precise control over population limits, check intervals, and village conditions.
  • Real-Time Reload: Apply changes to trade files instantly via the /visitors reloadtrades command, without restarting the game or server.
